Looking to buy used ArchiCAD license
Posted by: ArchinFR - 12-Feb-2019, 02:27 AM - Forum: NZ Architecture Open Forum - Replies (2)

Hi All,
I am looking to legally buy a used archiCAD license. The more recent the better. Is there any firms outs there that have an unused license they are wanting to sell?
I am just starting work as a contract architectural technician and cannot afford the full commercial license.
Any help much appreciated!

We have a lock up office (28m²) available in our building in Kirk Street, Grey Lynn alongside other architects and an engineer.
There are shared meeting areas, kitchen and storage space and a carpark available.
The space is air conditioned with with good sun and light, located on the second floor with elevated views.

  Will Alsop RIP
Posted by: Bruce Mitchinson - 15-May-2018, 06:36 PM - Forum: NZ Architecture Open Forum - No Replies

Sad to hear the news that Will Alsop passed away last Saturday.
His architecture was born out of pure motivation, and even if you did not love the finished product, you had to love the guy for his very dry wit and his perseverance.
Cheers

I have a mate who has purchased Rolly Adams house in St Heliers and he is keen to try and get in touch with him. Is Rolly still alive and if so, does anyone have a contact for him?

  Another Architectural Gem
Posted by: Bruce Mitchinson - 07-Mar-2018, 07:49 AM - Forum: NZ Architecture Open Forum - Replies (3)

Those that got to check out Amanda Hyde De Kretzer's home in St Heliers last year are in for a treat.
Her folks are moving to a retirement home and are selling their suburban gem, designed by Amanda a few years back.
Located adjacent to their old family home on Lady's Mile, Remuera, this is another fantastic response to create higher density, without compromise.
Open homes start this weekend, so get on down there and take a look.

Heart Re-purpose Solid Oak and Fir Homes from Europe - Curious?
Posted by: Mace James - 24-Feb-2018, 09:17 PM - Forum: NZ Architecture Open Forum - No Replies

I'm in Europe and want to import oak, fir, etc., houses (and other big wood materials, such as beams, stairs, surfaces, etc) into NZ similar to the ones in the photos below.

I want to find an architect, builder, good old Kiwi 'number 8 wire' type entrepreneurs to partner with.

  Standards for Nails and screws
Posted by: Clive Cullen - 10-Oct-2017, 10:07 AM - Forum: NZ Architecture Open Forum - Replies (4)

Given the issues with steel strength for reinforcing
Are there any requirements or standards for "regular" nails and screws for general construction as per 3604?
There are standards for various bolts and stainless fixings but seemingly not for nails ...

  Firefox issues - hopefully solved
Posted by: admin - 05-Oct-2017, 01:33 PM - Forum: NZ Architecture Open Forum - Replies (1)

Hi all- those of you who use Firefox browser may have been having trouble with a lot of text in links,  menus etc being 'invisible' (white on light grey background), except when hovering your mouse over it (thanks for the report Jason).

Hopefully this should now be fixed - if still unchanged for you, please  clear your browser cache

see - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how...efox-cache

then try hitting [ctrl] F5 to force a browser refresh,

Any ongoing issues just PM or email me . See links just below this window - which you won't see if the fix didn't work ... (evil laughter)

Cheers
